Our Governing Council

Overview

The Governing Council serves as ANCA’s oversight body, guiding the organisation’s long-term vision and ensuring that its work continues to align with Africa’s sustainable development priorities and global biodiversity and climate goals. Comprising senior leaders from across Africa’s financial, policy, and conservation sectors, the Council reflects ANCA’s commitment to collaboration, credibility, and continental impact.

Role and Mandate

The Governing Council serves as ANCA’s oversight and advisory body, providing strategic guidance and high-level advocacy to ensure the Alliance achieves lasting impact.

Its mandate includes:
  • Approving strategic direction: Endorsing ANCA’s long-term vision, objectives, and workplans to ensure alignment with continental priorities and global biodiversity goals.
  • Monitoring progress: Overseeing the implementation of ANCA’s programmes and ensuring that outcomes drive systemic impact across Africa’s financial sector.
  • Policy advocacy: Guiding ANCA’s engagement with governments, regulators, and international stakeholders to strengthen enabling environments for nature finance.
  • Ambassadorship: Serving as advocates for natural capital, using their institutional influence to elevate ANCA’s mission and inspire collaboration across sectors.
