5th Finance in Common Summit (FiCS) 2025

Join us from 26-28 February 2025 in Cape Town, South Africa, for the 5th Finance in Common Summit (FiCS), co-hosted by the Development Bank of Southern Africa (DBSA) and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), with the support of Agence Française de Développement (AFD). This summit will bring together global leaders, public development banks, the private sector, and philanthropies to discuss how to reshape sustainable finance for a just and sustainable future.

The 2025 summit, themed “Fostering Infrastructure and Finance for Just and Sustainable Growth,” is a global platform for collaboration, financial innovation, and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

At FiCS 2025, our session on Nature and Biodiversity: Delivering Investments and Finance at Scale will focus on the emerging role of nature finance in addressing both the climate and biodiversity crises. As public development banks (PDBs) and multilateral development banks (MDBs) increasingly align their financial strategies with global biodiversity and climate goals, this session offers critical insights into innovative approaches to mobilizing finance for nature.

Key highlights include:

• Real-life case studies on nature as infrastructure, exploring how financing nature-based solutions can drive positive environmental and economic outcomes.
• Innovative financial instruments such as biodiversity credits and performance-based financing tools, alongside discussions on natural capital valuation and the regulatory frameworks required to scale up nature finance.
• The role of development banks and financial institutions in shaping the enabling environment for nature finance, including aligning investments with the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF)
